Michael Howe is VP of A&R at Capitol and Virgin Records. He is tasked with finding and nurturing new musical talent, as well as working with talent already signed to the Capitol and Virgin labels. Prior to his appointment, Howe helped to establish Downtown Music, signing artists including Gnarls Barkley, Santigold, David Gray, Mos Def, The Drums and Scissor Sisters, and previously worked as Director of A&R at Virgin. Howe began his career in the music industry in 1998 in membership at ASCAP before moving into A&R at Epic Records, based in Chicago. He moved to online retailer Spun.com in 1999 before establishing LA-based independent artist development and management outfit Boundless Entertainment. As Director of A&R at Virgin Records, Howe was responsible for all rock and pop creative initiatives on the West Coast, including signing We Are Scientists and handling domestic A&R duties for the Rolling Stones.
